Lesson 2: What Christopher Columbus and Ptolemy already knewThis lesson will build on the basics of creating and interpreting maps that you learned in lesson 1. You will get more practice in learning to use different types of maps, especially as they relate to the study of geography. You will also learn about various map projections that deal with the difficulties illustrated in the activity above. Maps allow you to condense the world (or a portion of the world), that is otherwise too vast and incomprehensible, into something you can actually look at and interpret and analyze.
