4. Marriage partners should seek the “best interests” of the family.”
The LDS Family Relations manual states:
When a husband and wife work together to manage their finances, they become unified in an important effort to set their home in order. Some of the most serious problems in marriage arise when financial resources are not managed carefully and in the best interest of the family. ("Lesson 8: Managing Family Finances," Marriage and Family Relations Instructor’s Manual, 2000, 35.)
We should follow the example of Christ. Nephi commented on Christ when he said: “He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world. (2 Nephi 26:24) We likewise should do everything for the “benefit of the family” because we love our families.
