Global Managers From 3rd World Backgrounds
Over the last fifteen years there has been a
globalization of management throughout the world. This has been opportunistic,
as elite educators have trained a new breed on country independent manager.
These managers are less mentally linked to
their specific country and see the world community as their base. They want to
serve the world.
They may be from China, India, Taiwan,
Korea, Argentina, etc. and are prepared to move into management slots worldwide.
These people from third world backgrounds also have to face for greater odds to
succeed than their contemporary North American and European counterparts. In
India, for example, elite college applicants face a 3% acceptance rate. This
makes them willing to challenge the notion of impossibility.
This makes these third world managers more
amenable to deeper investments with longer paybacks. And lower front end
returns. They can also engage problems with a different perspective.
