Affiliation or Conversion Franchising
This form of franchising occurs when the owner of an
operating business decides to affiliate with a franchised chain to take
advantage of the brand and certain components of the operating system. In
affiliation franchising, the franchisee often is allowed to continue using a
pre-existing trade name along with the franchisor's brand. Conversion
franchising or affiliation franchising has been commonly used in the real estate
brokerage and the lodging industries, among others.
