Coping with stress

Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.

At a managerial position, stress is a part of the job but overcoming it is what has to be groomed in the personality. A situation becomes a stressor if an individual perceives a threat in one-way or another.

There is no way to escape executive stress but you can improve your ability to cope with a stressful situation. Remember the following:

  1. Control the stress within you. Emotional spillover is dangerous.
  2. Avoid carrying work at home.
  3. An enriching hobby goes a long way in coping with stress.
  4. Talk about your problems with colleagues, friends or relatives.
  5. Make efforts to maintain good relations.
  6. Exercise helps control stress.
  7. Watch your diet – certain foods can controlling stress.
