1. Be Organized with Your Record Keeping.
One of the difficult things about preparing your taxes is knowing where all your useful receipts are! Keep a folder that is dedicated to collecting all your tax receipts over the year. Make this folder readily available. Anytime you do anything that may have a tax consequence, put the receipts in that folder. An electronic system, such as Quicken or Money, makes it easy to record and remember details about charitable contributions or payments toward taxes for future use.
