Non-income-based Taxes
Non–income-based taxes include sin taxes, excise taxes, and state sales tax. These taxes are imposed when goods are purchased. This category also includes real estate and property taxes that are imposed annually or semiannually on assets owned. Finally, there are gift and estate taxes; these taxes maybe imposed when assets are transferred from one owner to another. The tax is imposed on the one transferring the assets not the person receiving the assets.
