As an investment manager, the general partner will typically charge a management fee to cover the costs of managing the committed capital. The fee will usually be paid quarterly for the life of the fund or it may be tapered or curtailed in the later stages of a fund's life. This is most often negotiated with investors upon formation of the fund in the terms and conditions of the investment.
