Rule 7: Instant infrastructure lets you focus on your mission |
If you're
outsourcing the development of your Web site, you should think about doing the
same with other elements of the business, like accounting and public
relations. Virtual Growth, a New York-based accounting service for high-tech
businesses, charges an average of $2,000 per month. Startups.com, a startup itself (with funding through
Garage.com), acts as the "operations partner" for startups, working to help
sprinting Internet companies focus on their core concerns (like launching a
Web site) and hands off such other matters as benefits, computers, and office
space.
Silicon Valley Bank, an institution favored by
venture-backed companies, launched its e source Web site, eSource.Svb.com earlier this year to help startups
focus on that sprint. The site lets you enter information about your company
-- from its stage of development to its location -- then directs you to firms
in your area that help with everything from setting up stock options to buying
furniture.
