As a manager, you have to be conscious about certain facts before interviewing
people.
Question yourself before finalizing the job requirement
Does the title of the job reflect the purpose accurately?
Is there a need to call for any particular technical expertise?
What salary should be offered with the job?
What are the perks -– heath, insurance, pension and so on?
Is a large amount of traveling involved in the job?
Make interviewing easy
Evaluate all vacancies before calling for interviews
Check if the qualifications for the job have changed
Make sure that the advertisements are proof-read
Set minimum requirements to screen out candidates
Be to the point when replying to rejected applicants
Avoid all distractions and concentrate on putting the candidate at
ease.
Agree on the objectives before panel interviews
Set group exercises for the candidates if team work is important
Modify your list of questions for each of the candidates you
interview
Avoid asking personal questions which are irrelevant to the job
.Ask if the candidate is able and willing to do the job
If the interviewee becomes flustered, maintain your cool
Study the candidate's body
language to establish a good rapport
It is good for a manager to develop an ability to spot nervousness. If a
candidate rubs his nose or lips with back of his hand then he/she may be very
nervous. Help the candidate relax in such a situation.
