FREE online courses on the Art Of Effective
Time Management - PUBLISHER'S NOTE
A final thought:
Notwithstanding all that has been said on the subject of
Time Management, we must remember that
people
manage Time. In order to get the best results out of any Time Management
initiatives, therefore, we have to first learn the art of managing people.
Benjamin Franklin, a many-faceted individual, one of the
legendary figures of American History, was a printer by trade. When an employee, who was otherwise a
good worker, started coming late to work, Franklin asked him the reason. The man
stated that his watch was giving trouble, an obvious cover for some deeper
problem. Franklin told him to either get a new watch or a new job. He never saw
the man again, to his eternal regret.
Since we deal with people at work, both within and outside
the organization, and our mutual interactions produce the results we look for,
it is of utmost importance how we deal with people. An otherwise good time
manager will fall short of his objectives if he is not successful in motivating
men and getting the best out of them. Any study of Time Management techniques
will, therefore, be incomplete unless we learn to handle people better.
But that's another story.
