The concept of 360-degree feedback in the organization

v     Reducing Threat Perception: If your organization is not very open and transparent or tuned to HR interventions, then reducing the threat through voluntarism is a cornerstone for the success of an intervention like 360-degree feedback

v     Integrity of the System: The integrity of the system is very important - creating the confidence that the data is not being used for any other purpose than for developmental purpose is very essential.

v     Sensitivity: A lot of discussions take place in the workshop, both about the process and the feedback received. People want to know how they can improve themselves. It is important that all the feedback is dealt with a great amount of sensitivity

v     Climate Setting: It is equally important to create a suitable climate for accepting such multi-rater feedback process.

v     Cascading: Cascading is a process, which happens when you introduce the process for more levels rather than focusing on only one level. Today a lot of people other than the target group have expressed their desire to receive 360-degree feedback and we have had a lot of inquiries about what we plan to do next with regard to 360-degree feedback.

v     Willingness To Experiment: The willingness to experiment with an HR intervention, but with caution and clarity, helps to further strengthen the process.

The future of 360-degree feedback in the organization

v     Finally the organization would reach that level where every senior manager feels comfortable in getting together his “significant others” in a room and receives feedback on what he could do better.
